Spells, Sparklers, and Summer Magic
Happy Fourth of July to all my friends in the U.S. who celebrate! I hope your day is filled with sparkle, joy, and a touch of magic. Even if you’re not celebrating the holiday, I’m sending you warm wishes on this lovely day. There’s something enchanting about gathering with loved ones under a starry sky—whether it’s to watch fireworks or just to enjoy a quiet evening. Wherever you are, I hope you’re feeling cozy, happy, and maybe enjoying a good book (or two)! ✨
A Peaceful Camping Getaway (Off the Grid!)
I’m writing to you with freshly recharged energy after returning from a five-day camping trip. Yes, five days completely off the grid—no cell service, no internet, just me, my family, a tent, and the whispers of the woods and water. It was oddly peaceful to be disconnected for a while. I spent my nights by the campfire and my mornings waking up to birdsong instead of phone alarms. I even imagined a few friendly forest spirits keeping me company (my writer’s imagination couldn’t resist!). The experience was magical in its own way, but I have to admit, I missed all of you. 😊 There’s a special kind of comfort in returning to civilization—and to my keyboard—after days of rustic quiet. I’m happy to be back and connected again, just in time to send you this newsletter and catch up on everything I missed!
Spells and Shadows: Thank You, Readers!
First, a huge thank-you to everyone reading Spells and Shadows! This book – the third installment in my Brightstone Bay Cozy Mystery series – released on June 27 and is getting good reviews. Whether you sped through it in one night or are savoring it slowly or have it in your queue to read still, I’m so grateful you choose to spend time with Maple and the gang in Brightstone Bay. Hearing that some of you stayed up late turning pages makes my author heart so happy. Your support means the world to me, so thank you for reading Spells and Shadows! If you haven’t had a chance to dive in yet, I hope it brings a little extra magic to your summer reading list. Feel free to let me know what you thought of the twists and turns (I promise Maple’s next adventure, Spells and Scandals, will be just as spellbinding!).
Finished with Brooms and Brimstone and Finishing Up Felinous Magic
Now that I’m back from the woods and semi-resettled into modern life (I had a lot of emails waiting for me – eep!), I’m diving headfirst into wrapping up Felinous Magic. This is the fifth book in my Unfamiliar Magic series, and I’m in the final stages of edits and polish. Felinous Magic is on track to release in just a couple of weeks (July 18, to be exact), which feels right around the corner! I can’t reveal spoilers, but I will say Ivy and her sassy familiar Tabby are up to some wild antics in this one. 🐱✨ Expect new spells, a few surprises, and plenty of cozy paranormal mischief. I’ve had such a fun time writing it. If you’ve been following the Unfamiliar Magic series, get ready because Ivy’s next adventure is almost here, and I cannot wait to share it with you.
Before I left for camping, I finished Brooms and Brimstone, which will also publish on July 18th! It’s the second in the Brightstone Bay Romcom series, and I think it’s just as fun as Fire and Fangs.
A Secret Holiday Surprise 🎁
Beyond Felinous Magic and Brooms and Brimstone, I’ve been brewing up something special on the side… a surprise project I’m dying to tell you all about, but I have to keep my lips magically sealed a little longer because I’m not sure when it’ll be finished. (I’m terrible at keeping secrets when it comes to fun news!) What I can give you is a single hint: “Holidays.” 🤫 That’s right, think festive, think enchantment, think all the cozy holiday vibes you know I love to write about. This project is still under wraps, but it’s shaping up to be something truly delightful. Stay tuned because more details will be revealed soon, and I promise it’ll be worth the wait. Consider this a little sprinkle of anticipation dust for now!
Enjoy the rest of your week, stay safe, and may your days be filled with warmth and a pinch of magic. To those celebrating the Fourth of July, have a sparkling holiday. And to everyone else, I’m sending you love and light from my little writing nook. Until next time, take care and stay magical!
Happy reading and happy summer! 💖
With cozy hugs and gratitude,
Paula
