Although this picture isn’t from this year, and the trees haven’t changed this much yet, the season has taken a pretty definite change where I live, and autumn seems to have made its (fairly late for this area) arrival. Still, as I welcome the cooler temps and changing leaves, my heart is with those farther south, affected by Hurricane Helene.
My kiddo has been sick, so we’ve been inside a lot this week, and I’ve been working on Spells and Secrets. So far, it’s going a little slower than I’d hoped, but once I get past this second chapter, I believe it’s going to get rolling. I’m having so much fun with the town of Brightstone Bay.
I got a new cover for Spells and Secrets, which is on pre-order and coming soon.
I think it matches the first book in the series, Spells and Suspects a lot better, and I love them both so much! They make me want to take off for Brightstone Bay, where the whole town is inhabited by paranormal folks going about their daily business without having to hide their true selves from humans.
Check out how the two covers look together right here and let me know what you think.
As I work on this book, I’m also thinking about what I want to write next. You may know that I didn’t publish any new cozies for a little bit over a year because I was working on this post-apoc series. Now that I’m spending some time writing cozy mysteries again, my mind is full of all the things I want to do. It’s been about five years since I started my first series, Sunnyside Retired Witches Mysteries, and part of me is itching to check on the crew at the Retired Witches’ Community, but I’m also eager to add the next installment of the Unfamiliar Magic series or the Superior Bay Witch Doctor series. Or, I could just keep going in the Brightstone Bay world because I not only have some more mysteries planned there but also some paranormal romantic comedies!
Help! I need to know what you all want to see me working on after Spells and Secrets is done. Please let me know in the comments.
Happy fall!
Paula

Good Day! You know, I'll read anything you write, but I can't say the idea of checking in with my favorite group of lovlies does make me happy dance. I'd love a chance at another book or even look at the Sunnyside Retired Witches Mysteries! ♡ Elysian
